AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is urging lawmakers to reconsider at a special session a bill that sought to ban all THC products derived from hemp in the state. The Republican governor vetoed the bill late Sunday night in a stunning blow to GOP lawmakers who sought to crack down on the booming industry. Abbott cited concerns about the legality of an outright ban for why he vetoed the bill and suggested a more regulatory approach. Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who has pioneered the effort to ban THC, said the governor’s veto amounts to legalizing marijuana.
